1. Disclaimer
In this notice, “we” and “us” mean Precision AGL Academy and Precision AGL Solutions, the names under which this website is published.
- Educational reference only. Content is general information for competent, suitably trained and authorised AGL and aerodrome electrical personnel. It is not professional engineering, legal or regulatory advice, and no professional or client relationship is created by using it.
- Not an approved procedure, maintenance programme or inspection schedule. Diagnostic sequences, cause rankings, maintenance and inspection tasks, frequencies, intervals, condition grades, pass/fail wording, scoring bands, checklists, test points, tolerances and values are generic and indicative. Real installations differ by design, make, model, age and condition. Nothing here replaces your aerodrome’s approved procedures, safety management system, Aerodrome Manual or the equipment manufacturer’s instructions.
- No authorisation to operate. Nothing here authorises work on live equipment, bypassing of any safety device or interlock, return to service, a change of operating category (CAT I/II/III), a NOTAM or any certification decision. Those decisions rest with the aerodrome operator, the air navigation service provider and the competent regulator.
- Standards and regulations. References to ICAO, FAA, IEC, IEEE, ISO and other documents are summaries for orientation and may be incomplete or superseded. Always consult the current official editions. Following this content does not guarantee compliance with any law, standard or approval.
- No warranty. Content is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, currency and fitness for a particular purpose.
- Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we and our owners, authors and contributors are not liable for any injury, death, loss, damage, downtime, penalty or regulatory consequence, direct or indirect, arising from use of, reliance on, or inability to use this website or any record downloaded from it. Nothing in this notice excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
- Case material. Case and root-cause content is a learning tool, is anonymised, does not assign fault or liability, and is not a forensic, legal, insurance or accident-investigation finding.
- Templates and records. Checklists, forms, record layouts and Word downloads are samples. They are uncontrolled copies, are not approved work instructions, permits, certificates or regulatory records, and must be reviewed and adopted under the user’s own document-control system before any use.
- Inspection results. Inspection checklists, findings, ratings and pass/fail wording are generic. A result recorded using this website is not an inspection report, certificate, serviceability declaration or finding of compliance or non-compliance with any law, standard or approval.
- SOP templates, test records and acceptance content. SOPs, test sheets, commissioning and handover records, and their numbers, revision labels, issue dates, signature blocks and pass/fail or acceptance wording are generic educational templates. They are not approved, issued or controlled documents of Precision AGL Academy or of any aerodrome, contractor or regulator. A completed template is not a test certificate, calibration record, flight inspection, acceptance, approval or evidence of compliance, and signatures on it carry no authority unless made under the user’s own approved system. Reading this material or completing a template confers no certification, accreditation, competency assessment or authorisation to work on any aerodrome.
- Failure Database content. Failure modes, causes, effects, scenarios, examples, IDs, severity or criticality bands and statistics are generic and illustrative. They are not reports of real events and are not a finding of fault. No failure, cause or defect is attributed to any person, company, airport, manufacturer or product, and the content must not be used as a basis for disciplinary, contractual, insurance or legal action. Failure IDs are internal reference labels, not official identifiers, and a log completed using this material is not an official investigation report.
- Asset Lifecycle Guide content. Lifecycle-cost, replacement, procurement, warranty, disposal and decision-model content is generic and illustrative. It is not financial, investment, accounting, tax, legal or contractual advice, and its models, costs, savings, percentages and examples are not forecasts or benchmarks. Warranty and supply terms vary by contract. Disposal, e-waste and hazardous-waste requirements depend on the equipment and jurisdiction; check current law and use authorised handlers. Decisions on budgets, contracts, replacement or disposal remain with you and your qualified advisers.
- Case Studies Library content. Every case study in the AGL Case Studies Library (AGL-CS-001 to AGL-CS-100) is a fictional engineering simulation created for training. None is a report of a real incident, and none identifies or is intended to identify any airport, organisation, person, manufacturer or product; any resemblance to a real event is coincidental. Scenarios, sequences, dates, readings, test voltages, insulation-resistance, current, photometric and angular values, tolerances, outcomes and pass/fail or acceptable wording are illustrative and are not acceptance criteria, limits, instructions or evidence of compliance. Where a case narrates opening, testing, measuring or inspecting a circuit, including on energised equipment, that narrative is not an instruction or an endorsement of the method; always work under your own isolation, permit-to-work and LOTO procedures. No fault or liability is attributed to anyone, and the content must not be used as evidence, as a record of an event, or as a basis for disciplinary, contractual, insurance or legal action. Knowledge checks, decision points, interview questions and FAQs are teaching aids; they are not an assessment, certification, accreditation or authorisation to work on any aerodrome and do not predict or guarantee the outcome of any job interview. “ICAO compliance” in a case title describes the teaching scenario only and is not a finding of compliance or non-compliance by anyone.
- Engineering Forms & Templates content. Every form, checklist, register, report, certificate layout and Word download in the AGL Engineering Forms & Templates library is a generic, uncontrolled sample. Form codes, revision labels, issue dates, document-control blocks, approval tables and signature blocks are layout only. A template, whether blank or completed, is not an approved work instruction, permit to work, isolation certificate, test, calibration or photometric certificate, inspection report, commissioning or completion certificate, acceptance, compliance certificate, audit or management-system certification, contract document, or regulatory or statutory record, and signatures on it carry no authority unless made under your own approved document-control and permit systems. Nothing in the library authorises work on live equipment, energisation, return to service, a change of operating category, a NOTAM or any certification decision. Counts, planned targets and “In development” labels describe intended scope, not a commitment about what is available. Where you enter personal or confidential information on a template, you are responsible for handling it lawfully, including under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
- Innovation Hub content. Ideas, concepts, roadmaps, frameworks, registers, maturity and scoring models, prototype, proof-of-concept, pilot and benchmarking examples, and technology, AI, IoT, automation, robotics, drone, sustainability and photometry content in the AGL Innovation Hub are conceptual, generic and forward-looking. They are not approved products, designs, specifications, procedures, certifications, type approvals or safety assessments, and labels such as “Proven Product”, “qualified” or “Approved for defined applications” describe a teaching scale, not an approval or endorsement. Nothing in the Hub authorises the installation, modification, trial, energisation or operational use of any equipment, software or system at an aerodrome; that requires the approval of the aerodrome operator, the air navigation service provider and the competent regulator, and a documented safety assessment. AI and analytics outputs are decision support only, and a competent, authorised person remains responsible for every decision. Operating drones or other unmanned vehicles on or near an aerodrome requires the permissions that apply under current law. Roadmaps, timelines, targets (including any 100+ concept target), savings, return-on-investment, energy, carbon and reliability figures are illustrative; they are not forecasts, guarantees, commitments, audited or verified claims, or investment, financial or accounting advice, and counts and planned scope describe intent, not what is available today. Content on patents, invention records, licensing and commercialization is general information, not legal or patent-attorney advice: nothing in it is a patent, application or granted right, or an opinion on novelty, patentability, freedom to operate, ownership, validity or infringement, and listing an idea claims or protects no right in it. Publicly disclosing an invention may affect the ability to protect it, so take qualified IP advice first. Innovation case studies and lessons are learning tools, are not reports of real incidents unless expressly stated, and attribute no fault to anyone. Collaboration and research content creates no partnership, licence, confidentiality obligation or endorsement. Mention of a technology, supplier or institution is not a recommendation. Registers and downloads are uncontrolled samples; if you record confidential, commercial or personal information in a register of your own, you are responsible for handling it lawfully, including under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
- Comparison Library content. Each page in the AGL Comparison Library sets two or more AGL concepts, systems or items of equipment side by side for learning. Tables, “at a glance” summaries, pros and cons and statements of what is typical, preferred or better are simplified and general. They are not requirements, specifications, designs, approved procedures or recommendations, and they endorse no technology, product, supplier or method; the right choice depends on the project specification, the aerodrome’s approved design and the competent regulator. References to ICAO Annex 14 and other ICAO documents, FAA advisory circulars and orders, IEC, IEEE, ISO, BIS, DGCA, AAI and other standards are paraphrased summaries, not official text; editions, amendments and applicability dates are stated as understood when the page was written and may have changed or been superseded, so consult the current official documents, and the regulator’s requirements and your contract specification prevail. Explanations of how lights and systems are used by pilots, vehicle operators or air traffic control are for understanding only and are not operational procedures or instructions. Power, current, voltage, photometric and other values and tolerances are generic and indicative and are not design, sizing, test or acceptance criteria. Statements on cost, energy saving, lifetime, reliability or maintenance effort are illustrative tendencies, not measured results, forecasts or guarantees, and nothing on these pages is a certification or a finding of compliance or non-compliance.
- AGL Applications and services content. The AGL Applications pages give general, simplified overviews of how airfield ground lighting is applied to commercial, international, regional, general aviation, military, heliport, LED-retrofit, runway-rehabilitation and temporary or emergency lighting projects. They are not designs, specifications, approved procedures or recommendations, and do not state what any airport, heliport, armed force or project requires; the aerodrome’s approved design, contract specification and the competent regulator prevail. Descriptions of consultation, technical support, documentation, compliance support, testing, commissioning, maintenance or other services are not an offer, quotation or tender, and contacting us or our replying creates no engagement, duty of care or contract; an engagement exists only under a written agreement. “Compliance support” does not mean certification or approval, and we are not a regulator or certification body. Nothing authorises the installation, modification, testing, energisation or return to service of any lighting, or the use of any temporary or emergency arrangement, which require the approval of the aerodrome operator and the competent regulator. Heliport and military requirements differ from the civil airport requirements generally described and are not set out here. Energy, lifetime, reliability and cost statements are general tendencies, not measured results or guarantees. Please do not send confidential, classified or security-sensitive information in an enquiry.
- AGL Component Library content. Each page in the AGL Component Library describes a type of airfield ground lighting component or system for learning. Descriptions, parameters, ratings, dimensions, photometric values, wattages, service lives, maintenance tasks and intervals, failure modes, certifications (for example CE, FCC, UL or IEC marks), part or type designations, FAQs and “related components” links are general, typical and indicative. They may not match any particular product, make, model or version, and they are not a datasheet, parts catalogue, design, specification, selection, sizing, procurement or acceptance criterion, nor a statement of what any airport, regulator or project requires; the manufacturer’s current documents, the approved design and the competent regulator prevail. Diagnostic, maintenance and test descriptions are not procedures, and nothing authorises the installation, adjustment, energisation, return to service or alignment of any equipment, including visual glide slope and navigation aids, which require the approval of the aerodrome operator, the air navigation service provider and the competent regulator. Mention of a brand, product, supplier or price is not a recommendation, offer or quotation, and we do not sell or supply any component described. Statements that a component “ensures” or “guarantees” a result describe its intended function, not a warranty of any product. Images, photographs and logos in the Component Library are shown to help identify a type of component; they may show products of various manufacturers, may not depict the exact item described, and remain the property of their respective owners, who may ask for removal, replacement or credit by writing to the contact address below. The “Learn…Certify” pathway on these pages describes learning stages and is not a certification, accreditation or authorisation by us or any regulator. Counts such as “350+ components” and the label “fully documented” describe the scope of the library and not completeness of any item.
- India AGL pages content. The India Airfield Ground Lighting pages (the India hub and its supporting pages on suppliers, manufacturers, companies, cost, standards, installation, maintenance, photometry, PAPI, CAT II/III, consultancy, contracting and related topics) are general, simplified educational overviews published by Precision AGL Solutions, which provides some of the products and services described; they are not an independent buyer’s guide. They are not designs, specifications, approved procedures, quotations, tenders, rankings, recommendations or regulatory or legal advice, and do not state what any airport, project or regulator requires. References to other companies, AAI or other tenders, AIP material and public sources describe what those sources state, as understood when each page was prepared; we have not verified them independently, they may have changed, and they are not endorsements, comparisons or statements about any person’s capability or standing. A named person or company may ask for a correction or removal by writing to the contact address below. Cost, price, BOQ and percentage content is illustrative and is not a quotation, price list or forecast. References to ICAO, FAA, IEC, BIS (IS), DGCA and AAI documents are paraphrased and may be superseded; the current official text and the regulator’s requirements prevail, and nothing states that any airport, product or project complies or does not comply. Descriptions of services are not an offer, and an engagement exists only under a written agreement. The enquiry forms on these pages open your own email app with your message pre-filled; nothing is sent to us until you send it, and you should not include confidential or security-sensitive information.
- AGL Engineering Centre content. The AGL Engineering Centre pages are general, simplified educational guides on airfield ground lighting systems, components, electrical design, testing, commissioning, inspection, maintenance, photometry, visual aids (PAPI and docking guidance), standards, air traffic and control systems, power, technology and careers, published by Precision AGL Academy. They are not designs, specifications, drawings, approved procedures, emergency or operational procedures, datasheets, quotations or recommendations, and do not state what any airport, regulator or project requires; the aerodrome’s approved design, the contract specification, the manufacturer’s current documents and the competent regulator prevail. Test, inspection, maintenance, alignment, calibration and photometric descriptions, values, tolerances, intervals, checklists and worked examples are generic and indicative and are not acceptance criteria, and a result obtained by following them is not a test certificate, calibration, photometric certificate, flight inspection, inspection report, declaration of serviceability or finding of compliance. Nothing on these pages authorises the installation, adjustment, aiming, calibration, energisation or return to service of any lighting, visual aid or control system, a change of operating category, a NOTAM or any certification decision. Insulation-resistance and other test voltages are hazardous: treat every circuit as live until it has been isolated, locked out, proved dead and discharged under the aerodrome’s procedures. Pages on emergency power and outage response are learning aids, not emergency plans. Pages on stop bars, guard lights, follow-the-greens, A-SMGCS, NOTAMs and runway-incursion prevention are not operational procedures or instructions to pilots, controllers or vehicle drivers. References to ICAO, FAA, EASA, DGCA, AAI, IEC, IEEE, ISO and BIS documents, and to what named airports or authorities have published, are paraphrased summaries as understood on the date of each page; we have not verified them independently, they may be superseded, and they are not official text. The current official text prevails, and nothing states that any airport, product or project complies or does not comply. Salary and job-market figures are drawn from third-party listings and estimates, are not a salary survey, offer or guarantee, and imply no statement about any named employer. Energy, lifetime, carbon, cost, solar and reliability statements and calculator results are illustrative, not measured results, forecasts, guarantees or an audit. Datasheet, catalogue and document-guide pages are not datasheets or controlled documents. Photographs are credited in their captions, illustrate a type of equipment or situation, may not show the exact item described and imply no endorsement; diagrams are schematic and not to scale. The email and call buttons on some pages open your own email or telephone application, descriptions of services are not an offer, and an engagement exists only under a written agreement. A named person, company or organisation may ask for a correction or removal by writing to the contact address below.
- AGL Fundamentals and tools content. The AGL Fundamentals page, the CIE Colour Orientation Tool and the Isolation Transformer Selection Calculator are simplified educational introductions and learning aids published by Precision AGL Academy. They are not designs, specifications, selection or procurement decisions, approved procedures, repair or fault-finding procedures, datasheets or recommendations, and do not state what any airport, regulator or project requires; the aerodrome’s approved design, the contract specification, the manufacturer’s current documents and the competent regulator prevail. Series-circuit equipment can carry lethal voltages, and nothing on these pages authorises work on live equipment, installation, energisation, return to service, a change of operating category, a NOTAM or any certification decision. Fault tables, first checks and corrective actions are generic orientation and not procedures. The Engineer’s Checklist, Quick Knowledge Check, PAPI selector and colour table are teaching aids: the checklist is not a project, test, commissioning or acceptance record and ticking an item is not evidence that a task has been done; the knowledge check is not an assessment, certification, accreditation or authorisation to work on any aerodrome; and the PAPI and colour illustrations are not operational information or instructions for pilots, controllers or vehicle drivers. Statements about learning outcomes or “job-ready” capability describe the aim of the material and do not guarantee any result, competence or employment. CIE Colour Orientation Tool: the signal-colour zones are an illustrative approximation prepared for learning; they are not reproduced from, and may differ from, the current ICAO Annex 14, FAA AC 150/5345-53 or any other official chromaticity table, and a reading is not a colour measurement, photometric certificate, calibration, or finding of compliance or non-compliance. Compliance work needs calibrated photometric equipment and the exact boundary tables of the current applicable standard. Isolation Transformer Selection Calculator: results are first-pass planning estimates calculated from the values you enter, using simplified formulas and generic standard-rating steps. They do not take into account cable length, voltage drop, power factor, temperature rise, insulation class or the characteristics of a particular make or model, may contain errors, and are not a specification or selection; a competent person must check them against the manufacturer’s data and the applicable specification before any use. “Recommended” means an indicative estimate, not an endorsement of any rating, product or supplier.
- AGL Toolkit content. The AGL Toolkit (the AGL Engineering Calculators hub and its 66 calculators, analysers, generators and quick-reference tools, including the PDF reports, CSV downloads and print views they produce) is a set of educational and planning aids published by Precision AGL Academy. Results, tables, charts, status indicators such as “OK”, “within limit” or “pass”/“fail”, recommended or selected values and example presets are first-pass estimates calculated in your browser from the values you enter, using simplified formulas, generic tables and typical values. They are not designs, drawings, specifications, selections, sizing or procurement decisions, approved procedures, acceptance criteria, quotations, tenders or forecasts, and may contain errors or rounding differences; “recommended” means an indicative estimate, not an endorsement of any rating, product or supplier. A competent person must check every result against the approved design, the manufacturer’s data and the applicable standard before any use, and the aerodrome’s approved design, the contract specification and the competent regulator prevail. Spacing, quantity, layout, bill-of-quantities, threshold, guard-light, stop-bar, intersection and sign tools describe typical configurations for planning and learning; they do not state what any airport, project or regulator requires, and a bill of quantities or material list produced by them is not a tender document, quotation or approved material take-off. PAPI tools give generic geometry and indication estimates; they are not a survey, aiming, flight-inspection or commissioning certificate, and their indication tables are not operational information or instructions for pilots, controllers or vehicle drivers. Test, record and photometric tools (including insulation-resistance, earth-resistance, transformer and cable test, photometric grid, uniformity and trend tools and the Commissioning Calculator & Checklist) use generic limits and example data; a result or record produced by them is not a test, calibration or photometric certificate, inspection report, commissioning or completion certificate, declaration of serviceability or finding of compliance or non-compliance, ticking a checklist item is not evidence that a task has been done, and readings must come from calibrated instruments used by competent, authorised persons. Fault-location, troubleshooting, replacement and maintenance-scheduling tools are decision support only; fault distances are estimates and a competent, authorised person remains responsible for every decision. Cost, tariff, energy and saving figures are illustrative and are not quotations, forecasts or financial, investment or accounting advice. Insulation-resistance and other test voltages are hazardous, and series-circuit equipment can carry lethal voltages: nothing in the Toolkit authorises work on live equipment, installation, adjustment, aiming, energisation, return to service, a change of operating category, a NOTAM or any certification decision. Reports, downloads and printouts are uncontrolled working records; calculator numbers, revision labels, dates, project names and signature or approval fields on them are layout only and carry no authority unless made under your own approved document-control system, and they must not be presented as approved, verified or certified documents. Statements that a tool is “technically validated” or “live”, and counts of tools or categories, describe the Academy’s own review and the intended scope of the Toolkit; they are not an independent certification, a guarantee of accuracy for any installation or a commitment that every tool is complete or current. References to ICAO, FAA, IEC, IEEE, ISO, BIS, DGCA, AAI and other documents are paraphrased and may be superseded; the current official text prevails. If you enter personal or confidential information into a tool or export it to a file, you are responsible for handling it lawfully, including under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
- AGL Study Notes content. The AGL Study Notes hub and its 21 notes are educational summaries and learning aids published by Precision AGL Academy. They are not designs, specifications, test or commissioning procedures, inspection and test plans, acceptance criteria, work methods, or operational instructions or information for pilots, controllers or vehicle drivers, and they do not state what any airport, regulator or project requires. The aerodrome’s approved procedures, the contract specification, the manufacturer’s current documents and the competent regulator prevail. Series-circuit equipment can carry lethal voltages, and nothing in the notes authorises work on live equipment, installation, energisation, acceptance, return to service, a change of aerodrome category, a low-visibility operation, a NOTAM or any certification decision. Test values, ratings, intensities, colours and figures are typical or illustrative. Notes that summarise ICAO Annex 14, FAA advisory circulars, IEC or Indian standards paraphrase them for learning; they are not official text, may be out of date, and the current official edition and your State’s requirements prevail. Flashcards, quiz items, revision tables and “exam” or “interview” questions are practice prompts, not past papers or official examination material, and do not predict what any examiner, regulator or employer will ask. Studying the notes does not certify competence or qualify anyone to do any work, and no examination, interview or employment outcome is guaranteed.
- Career & Interview Hub content. The Career & Interview Hub, its question banks (4,000 questions with model answers, explanations and key terms), the mock-interview simulator and the AGL Job Description & Salary page are educational and career-information resources published by Precision AGL Academy. They are not official examination content, past papers or an interview script, and they do not predict what any interviewer, examiner or regulator will ask. Studying them does not certify competence or qualify anyone to do any work, and no interview, examination, certification, employment, promotion or pay outcome is guaranteed. Technical answers are generic study notes, not designs, specifications, test or commissioning procedures, work methods, acceptance criteria, or operational information for pilots, controllers or vehicle drivers; series-circuit equipment can carry lethal voltages, and nothing in them authorises work on live equipment, energisation, return to service, a change of aerodrome category, a low-visibility operation or any certification decision. Answers that summarise ICAO, FAA, IEC or Indian standards paraphrase them, are not official text and may be out of date; the current official edition and your State’s requirements prevail. Scoring in drills and the simulator is a local approximation based on key-term matching, not an assessment or grading of competence. Model answers are written in the first person as worked examples: users must not present them as their own experience, projects, qualifications or authorisations. Salary and vacancy information: pay figures are examples taken from public job listings, a recruitment document and a third-party estimate on the dates stated; they are not offers, a salary survey or a guaranteed market rate, may be out of date, and an aggregator estimate is not a confirmed pay band of any employer. Employers, job boards and government sites are named and linked only to identify the source of public information, with no affiliation or endorsement, and their content and terms are their own. The pages are general guidance and not a recruitment, placement or career-counselling service. Invitations to enquire about consultation, compliance support or technical documentation are not offers or quotations; an engagement exists only under a written agreement.
- Career & Certification Guidance and Presentations content. The Career & Certification Guidance page is general career information and the Presentations page lists introductory training slides, both published for learning. They are not professional, legal, employment or career-counselling advice, approved procedures, specifications or operational guidance, and they do not promise any job, pay, promotion, examination or interview result or certify competence. Training providers, employers and job postings named on the Guidance page (for example AGL-CAP Airfield Training Academy, ADB SAFEGATE Training Academy, ICAO and the Indian Aviation Academy, AECOM and Atkinséalis) are mentioned only as examples of publicly described programmes and vacancies; we are not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsing them, their programmes, certificates and vacancies are their own and change, and details should be verified with them directly. A certificate or training record, whether issued by us or a third party, records training only and does not authorise anyone to work on any aerodrome. Testing and fault-finding outlines are study and interview prompts, not work methods. Presentation slides are the author’s teaching summaries, are a snapshot and may be out of date; “coming soon” entries show intent only; and the slides are hosted and played by SlideShare, whose own terms and privacy policy apply to the embedded player and to any deck material it hosts.
- Academy overview content. The “Why Choose Precision AGL Academy” page is a promotional overview of the Academy’s learning content. It is not an offer, quotation or advertisement of a specific course, and it does not promise any place, schedule, fee, trainer, certificate, job, promotion, pay, examination or interview result. Phrases such as “practical training”, “industry-ready” and “complete ecosystem” describe aims, not guarantees, and statements about why to choose the Academy are not comparisons of quality, price or results with any other provider. Listed practical topics, including installation, termination, insulation testing and commissioning, name subjects covered in learning content and do not mean hands-on instruction is provided unless separately agreed in writing; no one should do that work without authorisation, training, supervision and approved procedures. Any certificate issued by the Academy records completion of learning only and is not a licence, accreditation, professional qualification or authorisation to work on an aerodrome. Enrolment, fees, refunds and access terms, if any, apply only as stated on the Academy page or in a written agreement.
